Dr Paul Lim Chun Yih
Senior Consultant Cardiologist & Cardiac Electrophysiologist
Over 22 years of clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease, with a sub-speciality in electrophysiology, a specialised branch of cardiology focused on management of heart rhythm disorders.
I treat every patient the way I would want my own family to be treated — with honesty, care, and evidence-based medicine. I take time to understand each person’s concerns and explain things clearly, so we can work together on a plan they feel confident about.
A Career in Cardiology
Dr Paul Lim is a Senior Consultant Cardiologist with over 22 years of clinical experience caring for patients with a broad spectrum of cardiovascular conditions. He is a cardiac electrophysiologist, where he subspecialises in the diagnosis and management of heart rhythm disorders. He performs cardiac ablation and implantation of cardiac electronic devices to regulate abnormal heart rhythms.
Dr Lim graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore in 2004. He went on to obtain his Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine and his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom) in 2009, and was accorded Certificate Board Accreditation in Cardiology in 2014.
In 2017, Dr Lim completed an advanced fellowship at the Barts Heart Centre NHS Trust in London under the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) award. There he received specialised training in complex cardiac electrophysiology ablations using advanced 3D mapping techniques, and in the implantation and extraction of cardiac implantable electronic devices. He attained certification from the European Heart Rhythm Association as both a Certified Electrophysiology Specialist and a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist in 2019.
Prior to entering private practice, Dr Lim served as a Senior Consultant at the National Heart Centre Singapore and as a Visiting Consultant at Sengkang General Hospital. He continues to support both institutions in a visiting consultant capacity, contributing to public-sector cardiac care alongside his work at The Straits Heart Community Clinic.
Throughout his clinical career, Dr Lim has been recognised for his commitment to clinical excellence and patient safety. He has received multiple SingHealth Service Quality Awards and was integral to several patient-safety initiatives, including the development of protocols for the safe management of cardiac implantable electronic devices in patients undergoing radiotherapy. He has also served on quality improvement committees and contributed to medical informatics initiatives that promote comprehensive clinical documentation.
A dedicated educator, Dr Lim served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School, where he was Director of the SingHealth Duke-NUS Cardiovascular Sciences Residency Academic Clinical Programme. He was also a core faculty member of both the SingHealth Duke-NUS Cardiology Senior Residency Programme and the SingHealth Internal Medicine Residency Programme, and has been recognised with multiple Outstanding SingHealth Residency Faculty Awards. He continues to serve as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School.
