Cardiology Services in Singapore
Cardiac tests, procedures and screening — the tools used to find out what is going on, and to treat it. Not sure which one applies to you? Dr Paul Lim works that out with you at the consultation, without rushing, so you leave knowing what is being done and why.
Tests That Find the Cause
Non-invasive tests used to record the heartbeat, image the heart and assess the coronary arteries.
Electrocardiogram (ECG)
A ten-second recording of the heart’s electrical activity — usually the first test done.
2D Echocardiogram
An ultrasound scan of the heart’s chambers, valves and pumping function.
Holter Monitoring
A wearable monitor that records every heartbeat over 24 hours or longer, to catch rhythms an ECG misses.
Treadmill Stress Test
An ECG recorded while you walk, to see how the heart behaves under exertion.
CT Calcium Score
A quick CT scan that measures calcified plaque in the coronary arteries.
CT Coronary Angiogram
A detailed CT scan of the coronary arteries themselves, without a catheter.
Treatments & Implanted Devices
Catheter-based and device treatments for heart rhythm disorders, carried out by Dr Lim as an electrophysiologist.
Catheter Ablation
A minimally invasive procedure that treats many heart rhythm disorders at their source.
Electrophysiology Study (EPS)
A catheter-based map of the heart’s electrical system, used to pinpoint where an arrhythmia starts.
Electrical Cardioversion
A brief, controlled shock under sedation to restore a normal rhythm.
Pacemaker Implantation
An implanted device that paces the heart when it beats too slowly.
ICD Implantation
An implanted defibrillator that monitors for, and treats, dangerous ventricular rhythms.
Implantable Loop Recorder
A small monitor placed under the skin, for symptoms too infrequent for a Holter to catch.
Cardiovascular & Metabolic Markers
Blood markers that add detail to a standard lipid panel. Each is interpreted alongside your other results, not on its own.
Apolipoprotein B (ApoB)
A count of the particles that carry cholesterol into the artery wall.
Lipoprotein (a)
A largely inherited risk marker — for most people, worth measuring once.
hs-CRP
A sensitive marker of the low-grade inflammation associated with cardiovascular risk.
HbA1c
Average blood sugar over the past two to three months.
Fasting Insulin
A supplementary marker of insulin resistance, read alongside glucose and HbA1c.
Heart Screening
For people with no symptoms who want their risk assessed, the tests above are bundled into five screening tiers.
Heart Screening Packages
All five tiers compared — what each includes, and where it is available.
Basic Heart Check-Up
The entry-level screen: blood panel, ECG and a cardiologist review.
Plus Heart Check-Up
Adds an echocardiogram and a wider blood panel to the basic screen.
Advanced Heart Check-Up
Adds CT imaging of the coronary arteries.
Comprehensive Heart Check-Up
A broader work-up combining the imaging and the extended marker panel.
Full Heart Check-Up
The most detailed tier, covering the full range of tests offered.
